Air France flies to five new routes in winter
This winter, Air France will fly to New York-Newark, Tromsø, Kittilä, Innsbruck and Salzburg for the first time.
After a summer marked by a significant recovery in the travel industry and unprecedented chaos at many airports, numerous airlines are finally showing activity levels close to 2019. Air France is no exception. In a press release the French airline planned to fly to no fewer than 171 destinations from Paris-Charles de Gaulle this winter, including five new ones.
Five new long and medium-haul destinations
From November 2022 to March 2023, Air France will fly to 86 long-haul destinations and 85 short- and medium-haul destinations. With a program similar to that of winter 2019, the French airline will be able to deploy its entire fleet, including its Boeing 777-300 ER with the new Business cabin. However, the seats will not be the only innovation in the French airline’s program. This winter, Air France will fly to five new destinations from Paris-Charles de Gaulle: New York-Newark in the US, Tromsø in Norway, Kittilä in Finland and Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria.
On December 12, the airline will open a direct daily service between its Paris Charles de Gaulle hub and New York-Newark Liberty Airport (EWR), the second busiest international airport serving New York and the region. This daily Boeing 777-200ER flight marks Air France’s return to Newark, which served direct until 2012. The shuttle product between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-John F. Kennedy (JFK) is complemented with six daily flights operated by Air France and two by Skyteam partner Delta Air Lines.
On short- and medium-haul routes, Air France will connect Paris-Charles de Gaulle once a week with Salzburg in Austria, Kittilä in Finland and Tromsø in Norway from December 10th. Innsbruck, on the other hand, is connected to the capital twice a week.
Resumption of the interrupted routes
Air France will also resume numerous routes that have been suspended due to the pandemic. In Africa, Air France will notably resume flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Cape Town from October 30, 2022. Following the reopening of Japan’s borders, Air France will connect Paris to both Tokyo Narita and Tokyo Haneda airports five times a week this winter.
From October 30, 2022, Air France will introduce a new connection between Paris-Orly and Casablanca, served daily with an Airbus A320. At the same time, the connection between Nice and London, previously operated only in the summer, will be switched to an annual connection with a daily flight with an Airbus A320.
Opened in 2021, the seasonal service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Rovaniemi in Finland will resume this year from November 27, with up to one flight per day during the Christmas period using Airbus A320s.
Conclusion on the new routes of Air France
This winter, Air France continues to resume operations at a similar level to 2019. The airline will fly to 171 destinations from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, including five new destinations. Passengers will soon be able to fly directly to New York-Newark, Tromsø, Kittilä, Salzburg and Innsbruck.
