Rue Saint-Nicolas has recently been enriched with Atelier 17, where Valentine and Valentin combine their talents to offer a typical bistro, to be discovered from breakfast on.
At 25 and 27, Valentine Larchevêque and Valentin Lelong already have solid experience in the profession. This bistro is their “first baby” and it’s off to a good start for the young couple, who have been living at 71 rue Saint-Nicolas since April.
It must be said that they left nothing to chance. “As I’m a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, we got into the decorating work ourselves,” says Valentin. These flea market enthusiasts hunted down almost all of the furniture, built the huge chandelier that adorns the very high mezzanine room and completely refurbished the premises. The result ? A warm and comfortable bistro that invites you to sit, inside and outside, on the well-covered terrace and equipped with a plaid lent by the house if necessary.
But where Valentin and Valentine have really been able to express themselves is of course on the plate. They put together a solid bistro menu, helped by Benjamin and Alec in the kitchen. Their “campaign croque” with dried ham and truffles already has its fans, who can also fall for a risotto with Jerusalem artichokes, a creamy chicken supreme served with shells (regressive as you wish), or a vegetarian salad that mixes spelled with mint and falafel. As a starter, you can’t miss the establishment’s mimosa eggs, which never cease to amaze with their color. “They are pink because we work them around beets”, explains Valentine with a smile. As good as beautiful. “We play a lot on presentations,” she continues. What fuels an Instagram account that makes you hungry!
L’Atelier 17 can be enjoyed at breakfast and serves coffees, tarte tatin (another “bestseller”) and sweet treats all day long. And continues in “after-work”, where you can test boards, tapas and why not the “Magnifigue”, house cocktail topped with a flavored bubble, which bursts and manages to escape a fragrant smoke… impressive!
And for the curious who are wondering why this Atelier is called 17, it’s that Valentine and Valentin have added the numbers of their birth days. A winning combination, from morning to night!
