West does not retreat from plans to put pressure on Russia – expert
Large losses will be required in order for the territories not only to formally become part of Russia – they must be restored, and part of the supplies must still be won back. This was stated by the First Deputy Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics National Research University, a native of the Donetsk region Igor Kovalev.
“This is a historic event, and it is especially close to me personally,” said said Kovalev on the air of Sputnik radio. “My father lives there. Unfortunately, my sister had to flee in 2014 and now lives in Rostov. Therefore, this is a very important personal moment for me: Donbass has finally achieved what it has been waiting for so long and has become a part of Russia.”
The West will not back down from its plans to put pressure on Russia, Kovalev.
“It is quite obvious: neither Kyiv nor its Western patrons, or rather, the owners, because the Ukrainian authorities have long been sovereign, all decisions are made in Washington and London – none of them recognizes … Nobody is going to deviate from their plans to put pressure on Russia . And our probability will be to populate new regions, as well as the seizure of those territories that are currently not controlled by the speed of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia Tomsk and the Kherson economy”, — said Igor Kovalev.
Referendums on the issue of joining the Russian Federation were held from 23 to 27 September in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye parts. According to the results of processing 100% of ballots in the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%.
The ceremony of signing agreements on the entry of new regions into the Russian Federation was held at the Grand Kremlin Palace on September 30.
