San Marino. The strategic project of the Baldasserona area presented to the public
Lifts and walkways will connect the historic centers of Borgo Maggiore and the city with the parking lots.
Organized by the Secretariat of State for the Territory and the Environment together with AASLP and the Giunta di Castello di Borgo Maggiore, a public evening for the presentation to the citizens of the strategic project for the requalification of the access infrastructures to the Historical Centers of the Republic of San Marino: Borgo Maggiore and City.
The plan aims to redevelop the Baldasserona area (which currently has about 300 parking spaces and is underused) and to improve the connection between the Baldasserona area, Borgo Maggiore and the cable car station.
The project proposes the full re-functionalization of the approximately 22,000 square meters of the Baldasserona area and provides for the functional recovery of the yards (even those today degraded and not usable) with repaving interventions that safeguard the naturalness of the area, the creation of an effective rainwater collection system, the installation of a new sign lighting system as well as the design of new service blocks for cars and campers as well as the system of the Baldasserona with the other mobility systems (Borgo-Città and Ex -Railway) through the creation of new connections, the definition of new pedestrian paths separated from vehicular roads.
It is also planned to create a walkway, about 300 meters long, with a slight slope, for the connection between a new lift that allows to overcome much of the existing difference in an easy way and in compliance with the principle of accessibility for all (reduction of barriers architectural) and the cable car station. The walkway will be placed at high altitude in the wooded part, added to the hill and with an open view towards the valley in order to enhance the landscape quality of the area and become itself a reason of interest.
The redevelopment of the pedestrian path currently existing alongside the highway, about 200 meters long, will be repaved and protected by green sound-absorbing barriers to attract the impact of noise pollution generated by vehicular traffic.
The project is completed by the proposal of a new lift connecting Piazzale Campo della Fiera and Via Oddone Scarito, near the cable car to facilitate the connection with Piazza Grande, an area that respects the architecture of the existing “arched” wall and with a panoramic view. towards the sea.
The whole project can be carried out in stages, some of which can be set up within a short time frame.
