Resignation: Gerhard Pöttler ends all activities at MFG
Gerhard Pöttler resigns as a full member of the MFG party and resigns from all offices. The Salzburger gives the reason that MFG is developing in a direction with which he can no longer identify.
SALZBURG. With the words “I’m telling you today that I’m ending my activities as MFG Federal Manager, MFG Federal Finance Officer and as state party chairman of the MFG regional group Salzburg with immediate effect and also retiring as a full member of MFG,” Gerhard Pöttler said on Friday morning known to be leaving politics.
It is not yet known how the party in Salzburg will continue. No one in the party was available on the phone this morning.
Pöttler already published a video with an explanation on its Facebook page yesterday
The MFG (people, freedom, fundamental rights) took off in February 2021 with electoral successes in Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Tyrol. Pöttler has officially headed the national office for exactly one year.
“I often put my head down”
Pöttler continues in a broadcast with a kind of apology: “Should I have offended or personally hurt anyone with my manner, my appearance or my statements, I would like to apologize to this person in all forms. I was always and exclusively concerned with the cause and protection of the organization. I was often someone who put my head down.”
“Parts of the MFG curry favor”
However, the MFG is a “grassroots movement” that people cannot expect to “please everyone”. You wanted and had to be the difference to other parties, says Pöttler: “But that also means that we have to polarize, a quality that I have always cultivated, especially in my speeches and videos. Currying favor with the existing system, as is customary with other parties and, in my opinion, has already been done in part at MFG, is not conclusive for me.”
“I can’t and don’t want to take part anymore”
The following is an assessment of the people involved in the MFG, who are not named: “I have come to the conclusion that some of the people involved no longer put into practice what we promised our supporters.” Pöttler can and wants to do that don’t participate anymore.
Dispute with protagonists in Upper Austria
Then it gets even more specific: “I don’t hide the fact that I, too, surprisingly understood that I was involved with the responsible protagonists in Upper Austria, but apologized to them for my behavior and shook hands, which they didn’t accept.”
20 months with strength and confidence
At the end of the broadcast, Pöttler thanks the people: “The joint events, the wonderful encounters with all of you, the loving hugs, the warmth with which I was received always and everywhere have given me incredible strength and confidence over the past 20 months given to create something great together.”
Pöttler would wish that his departure WILL trigger a reflection process in MFG. He would have liked to continue actively shaping Austria and Salzburg.
