presented the book on the ISAL Foundation, thirty years at the forefront in the fight against chronic pain
More than 13 million Italians suffer from chronic pain: a condition that not only generates daily suffering, but also induces a departure from the world of work in about 26% of people. ISAL Foundation has been working, since its inception, in promoting both the medical research and training on painful pathology, both in daring und painful support for people who are affected. The volume “Give a name to pain”edited by William Raffaeli and Antonella Chiadini, it starts from the thirty-year history of the ISAL Foundation and then puts the emphasis on scientific activity and institutional collaboration projects undertaken.
Raffaeli rattles off the numbers: “80% of patients have the chance to recover, but 43% of them do not know where to turn. Many Regions, excluding Emilia-Romagna, – he specifies – have not yet implemented the relevant law and in several cases we are faced with a situation of inaction of the law. Pain therapy – he observes – for better or for worse was born in Rimini: from here 2,500 doctors have passed to train at our school and this fills us with pride ”.
