Police officers from PMJ Prague used a tourniquet to stop massive bleeding in the driver of the crashed bus
Police officers from the emergency motorized unit intervened in the night from Wednesday to Thursday at a bus accident. They used a tourniquet to save the driver.
The non-stop patrol service of police officers from PMJ paid off again.
Around half past four in the morning, they heard a session on the radio about a bus accident that happened in Kukulova Street in Prague 5 and immediately went to the scene to find out the situation.
Upon arrival, it was obvious at first glance that this accident was not without injuries, as the front of the bus was demolished. They immediately took the medical bag and began treating the wounded. The worst was the forty-eight-year-old driver, who was bleeding massively from his lower limbs. Because ordinary bandages were not enough, the police used a so-called tourniquet, which stopped the bleeding.
Rescue workers immediately arrived at the scene, to whom the police gave information about the condition and number of injured, and they took them into their care.
Police officers go through a series of medical courses that prepare them for such situations. The intervening patrol was able to use its experience here and provide the injured with the necessary first aid.
