New regime for the entry of immigrants to Portugal in force in November

Among the new measures is the creation of a visa of limited duration that allows the legal entry of immigrants in Portugal with the objective of looking for work.
This visa to look for work in Portugal is valid for 120 days and can be extended for another 60 days, being granted at Portuguese consular posts, which you will immediately communicate to the Foreigners and Borders Service and the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP).
Citizens of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) will also have a visa facilitation regime in Portugal within the scope of the agreement on mobility between CPLP member states.
According to the decree, CPLP citizens can obtain a work-seeking visa or a CPLP residence visa.
“These requests must be requested on a preliminary basis, if they are specified as allowed to be prohibited from entering and object of stay of visas”, says the decree.
The new regime with the visa quota facilitation regime for the residence of foreign students, allows a residence visa to be allowed for students residing or with the finalized designation regime.
The regulatory decree published today the implementation of the measures of “simplification of procedures” and highlighted from “the possibility of remote residence from the country of origin also, as the follow-up, of the family member, among what can be seen in documents that allow the family enter, on a regular basis, other measures to promote the territory of family reunification, increase of the validity limit of validity”.
Other changes are the “elimination of the existence of a global contingent exercise of contracting opportunities by the Council of Ministers, for the purpose of granting a visa for the exercise of subordinate professional activity” and “by contract of subordinate professional activity” professional by holder of a residence for research, study in a complementary professional or voluntary activity that gave rise to the visa”.
The latest data from the SEF indicate that the foreign population in Portugal exceeded 800,000 people, the Brazilian population being the largest, estimated at more than 250,000 people.
