Margaritis Schinas: “Greece has nothing to fear from any threat”
The vice-president of the Committee for the Promotion of the Way of Life, Margaritis Schoinas, reiterated from Heraklion, Crete, his certainty that Europe will be able to move in a coordinated and collective manner against the energy crisis.
Mr. Schinas, who attended an event organized by the Region of Crete, in collaboration with the EU delegation in Greece, speaking to institutions on the island, explained that “after the camera, collective and effective management of the pandemic at the individual level, we created a precedent, from which we cannot take a step back.”

He noted, however, that “the problem with energy policy is that, for the first time, we have to take the first time that not only we have, but they will also have an impact on the global gas markets” and that is why “we have to prepare very good this European answer”.
Regarding what emerged on Friday in Brussels, at the Council of Energy Ministers of the EU, the vice-president of the Commission stated that “a first important step has been taken”, adding that he has no doubt that “from now until the October Summit , we will again find collective European answers to the energy issue”.
“Greece has nothing to fear from any threat”
Regarding the reports with Turkey, Mr. Schinas stated that he is not worried, just as he is not particularly worried about “the uncontrollable incendiary rhetoric of the neighbors”, explaining that he himself interprets it as “a sign of their insecurities about their position in the world and in the current geopolitical environment”.
The vice-president of the Commission, in fact, said that “Greece is very strong, it is on the outside of the West, it has nothing to fear from any threat”.
And he repeated what he said yesterday, Thursday, from the graves of the Venizelos in Chania, that “whoever dares through revisions to reopen the Treaty of Lausanne, which guaranteed us 100 years of peace, will regret it very hard, because History will punish him . Above all”.
