Government recommends filling the heating oil tanks as soon as possible – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – In Switzerland, the operators of a dual-fuel system were recommended to convert their systems to heating oil operation from October 1, 2022. Since more heating oil than usual is likely to be needed this year, the Liechtenstein government is recommending that the population fill their heating oil tanks now.
Dual-fuel systems are systems for heat generation that can be operated with both gas and fuel oil. With this changeover, operators of dual-fuel systems can make a small and fast-acting contribution to ensuring security of supply, explains the Ministry of the Interior, Economy and Environment in a press release. In Liechtenstein, only “Liechtenstein Wärme” is available via a dual-fuel system, which will also be converted from gas to heating oil as of October 1st.
As a result of the switchover of the dual-fuel systems and the increased need for heating oil for emergency power generators, however, more heating oil than usual is required. In connection with the seasonal increase in orders from the population for their heating systems, this can lead to delivery problems. According to the ministry, heating oil is generally available in sufficient quantities. The possible delivery bottlenecks and delays depend on the limited vehicle and transport capacities on road and rail. Against this background, the government recommends that the population fill their heating oil tanks.
