Bird flu detected in Lisbon on a turkey farm – Observer
A new outbreak of bird flu was confirmed in a commercial farm for fattening turkeys in the municipality of Alenquer, in Lisbon, bringing the number of birds to 31, announced the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV).
On September 29, a new focus of infection with the Avian Influenza (AG) virus was confirmed, in a commercial farm for fattening turkeys, in the parish of Abrigada and Cabanas de Torres, municipality of Alenquer, district of Lisbon. in a note released by DGAV.

On September 21, it had been identified in two wild birds on the beaches of Francemar, Vila nova Gaia, and Fonte da Telha, Almada.
DGAV once again appealed to bird keepers to comply with safety measures and good production practices.
On the other hand, he asked for the reinforcement of hygiene procedures in the facilities, equipment and materials.
“The notification of any suspicion must be carried out immediately, to allow rapid and effective measures to control the disease on the ground”, he stressed.
DGAV is a central service of direct administration of the State, with administrative autonomy.
