AZS AGH Kraków. Big staff changes in the student team. The aim is to develop and place in the top four of the league
With Saturday’s away match against SPR Orzeł Przeworsk, AZS AGH Kraków handballers will inaugurate their performances in the new season of the DI league group. The heavily rearranged team wants to fight for a place in the top four of the table.
In improving AZS AGH’s offer, as a champion of the 1st league, he was in the sixth position in group D. He led the transition to the first three appearances, 159-time representative of Poland (1976-1985), silver medalist of the World Cup 1979, bronze medalist of the 1982 World Cup, Olympian 1980, multiple Polish champion with Hutnik Kraków, Jerzy Garpiel. It relinquished due to the excessive load on the body and health reasons. He finished his adventure with AGH in June 2022 with the title of Polish Champion.
The 65-year-old coach was replaced by his former charge, another resident of Nowa Huta, Sławomir Karwowski, who became interested in handball in favor of replacing his older brother. He was a left-wing player for 20 years, from the 4th grade of Primary Schools. Still in the middle of his professional career, when he had been recovering from an injury for a long time, he completed the trainer’s training course, but previously vowed never to be a coach. AZS provided the tutor of AGH Kraków, bringing them second place in the second league. His players gave him only one point to the SPR Orzel, from which they will play on Saturday.
There are few experienced courses left of Krakow’s rubber: the totanek Dawid Cio, the quarterback of Igor Mróz and Marcin Wajda, and the rotating Bartosz Niemiec. Their place was taken by new SMS graduates – incl. Comrade Mateusz Węgliński and quarterback Jakub Grzybowski – and the players, equaled in the second team of academics.
