Sanctions against Russia do not lead to anything good for Bulgaria and Europe

“BSP’s position is clear and unchanged. Diversification – yes, but firstly not to be dependent on a certain country and secondly to achieve the best price. This is not diversification, but pure geopolitics. The problem is that these wrong geopolitical decisions are paid for by the Bulgarian citizens”. This is what the leader of the list of “BSP for Bulgaria” in 23 MIR – Sofia, Hristo Prodanov, said on the air of BTV.
According to him, the subjects of the terminated talks with “Gazprom” and the expulsion of the Russian diplomats were not discussed with the left in the coalition.
“We have been receiving gas from Gazprom in recent years, and we have never had problems with the security of supplies. However, if someone expected that he would impose sanctions on the other side, and that it would hardly give him a preferential price for gas – he is simply very mistaken. Sanctions against Russia do not lead to anything good – Bulgaria and Europe suffer the most from this,” the socialist is emphatic.
A situation like this is extremely serious – business and the people are facing a test, the important thing for the BSP is to have a government, and according to Prodanov, there will be one. “The question is whether we will have something to carry on after the change or whether we will have a deal that offers that for the last 12 years,” he added.
Hristo Prodanov presents some of the measures of the left to deal with inflation: “We are betting on increasing the incomes of working people, a minimum wage of BGN 850, a fair recalculation of pensions, a ceiling on the prices of electricity, heating and gas. Also, withdrawal from the free market of schools, community centers and kindergartens so that they can pay electricity at an affordable price. The same should apply to hospitals, but here we have a problem because they have a commercial status. It is not a commercial status,” he explains.
“Everything achieved by the legislation is the result of the coalition talks and voting,” stated Prodanov and specified: “I want to give a few examples that the proposal for the VAT threshold was on the DB, on the PP it was for the action on “Captain Andreevo”. And the political initiative of the BSP is kindergartens and pensions – what GERB tells us there is no money for, but we are achieving it,” he pointed out.
“Only the efforts of the BSP made it so that the Bulgarian parliament did not allow and take such a decision on the amount of weapons for Ukraine,” the socialist recalled.
“In the previous campaign, Vazrazhdane talked about changing the GERB model and leaving NATO, but in the 47th parliament over 70% of their votes were with them. Desislava Atanasova told them when to push the quorum. They also support the ratification of the F-16,” Prodanov also said.
At the end, the candidate for People’s Deputy stated: “It is important for us to say that the ideological coalition is difficult. But it is not clear, first of all, that in order to conduct left- and right-wing politics, the GERB model must be removed, because it robs both the left and the right,” concludes the socialist.
