The upcoming sports weekend has two posters for us between Montpellier and ToulouseSunday October 2, the first in football between the TFC and the CSMH at the Stadium at 3 p.m. and the second in rugby, with a clash between the HRMreigning French champion, and the Toulouse stadium21e times winner of the Brennus Shield, at GGL Stadium, Sunday in prime time (9:05 p.m.). This gave us the idea of establishing a ranking of cities with a Top 14 club, the sportiest in France, taking into account 5 male and professional team sports: football, basketball, handball, volleyball and rugby league.
Here is our ranking method:
Soccer: Ligue 1 (5 points); League 2 (4 points)
Basket: Pro A (4 points); Professional B (3 points)
Main: Starligue (3 points): Pro Ligue (2 points)
Volley: League A (2 points): League B (1 point)
Rugby League: Super League (1 pt)
The ranking of the Top 14 sportiest cities:
1. Paris: 14 points
2. Toulouse: 12 points
3. Lyon, Montpellier, Pau: 10 points
6. Clermont: 8 points
8. Bordeaux-Bègles and Racing 92 (Nanterre + Plessis-Robinson): 6 pts
9. La Rochelle: 3 points
10. Perpignan: 1 point
11. Toulon, Bayonne, Castres, Brive: 0 pts
Pau well placed, in the middle of the metropolises
At the top of the ranking of the Top 14 sportiest cities, we logically find the French capital, Paris, which places its 4 professional clubs in the Elite championships (PSG football and handball, Stade Français, Paris Basket and Paris Volley) of the 5 disciplines represented in our ranking (football, basketball, handball, volleyball and rugby league). closely followed by Toulousewhich also has 4 professional teams at the best level in France: Toulouse Football Club (TFC, back in Ligue 1 this season, Fenix in Starligue handball, Spacer’s in Ligue A volleyball and finally Toulouse Olympique XIII (TO XIII), freshly relegated from the Super League.
Three cities complete the podium of this ranking of the most sporting Top 14 cities, Lyons, Montpellier and the little surprise, Paul, which all place 3 professional clubs at the highest level in the 5 disciplines: Olympique Lyonnais, ASVEL and ASUL Lyon for the capital of Gaul, MHSC, MHB and MHSC Volley-Ball for the prefecture of Hérault and finally Pau FC (Ligue 2), Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez (Betclic Élite) and Billère Handball Pau Pyrénées (BHB 64, in Proligue, D2 handball). They are followed by Clermontwith Clermont Foot 63 in Ligue 1 and JA Vichy-Clermont Métropole (JAVCM) in Pro B.
Attached bathroom Bordeauxwith the Girondins in Ligue 2 and in Proligue, second handball division, with Bordeaux/Bruges/Lormont Handball, tied with the Race 92with Nanterre 92 in Pro A basketball and Le Plessis-Robinson Volley in Ligue A. La Rochelle and Perpignan save the day, thanks to a second professional team present in their cities, respectively the Stade Rochelais Basket (Pro B) and the Catalans Dragons (Super League), while Toulon, Bayonne, Castres and Brive bring up the rear, since they do not present no professional club in their city, apart from rugby union.
