Presidential election 2020: Exclusive interview with Marco Pogo in Salzburg
Presidential candidate Dominik Wlazny spoke yesterday to the people at Salzburg’s Mozartplatz. RegionalMedien Salzburg were there live and spoke to the native of Vienna about his politics, solidarity and beer.
SALZBURG. “A person with a solid moral compass” as Dominik Wlazny put it in an interview. In this interview you can find out what distinguishes him as a candidate for the Federal President and why, in his opinion, the Danish beer Faxe should be banned.
Does Dominik Wlazny convince you as a candidate for the Federal President?
His motivation
Presidential candidate Dominik Wlazny invited people and the media to a public meeting at Mozartplatz yesterday. There he spoke about his motivation for taking up this office, his competencies and solidarity and respectful politics. He draws his motivation primarily from the desire to get involved politically and to do things better. Wlazny emphasizes that the social problems in the country must be addressed and that is exactly what he wants to do.
His suitability
Right at the beginning of the performance, Dominik Wlazny emphasized his political and international experience as head of the beer party and as a musician who has been touring around the world for almost two centuries.
“As a musician, I’m on the road, also internationally. I’ve actually been making state visits for 20 years. I meet a lot of people and treat them with the necessary respect and at eye level. I don’t care if it’s a banker from Beijing, or a head of state from somewhere. A man is a man.”

Furthermore, Wlazny emphasized that his suitability, in contrast to his opponents, some of whom were trained in political cadres, was based in particular on his experience outside the political arena. As a doctor, he sharpened his social streak and was very happy to help people.
However, as the founder of the Beer Party, one would not underestimate his political experience. After all, these games are already playing a role in national politics.
An active President
For Dominik Wlazny it is very clear that he wants to be an active Federal President.
“I’m always asked if you were an active Federal President, of course!” said the candidate.
In his view, a Federal President does not have to spend the whole day commenting on press reports in which the parties insult each other.
“But if there is something to say, if something goes wrong in the country or something is wrong, you can say something out loud. For me it’s not a question of activity, it’s just about doing your job .”

solidarity policy
“Independent and with his heart in the right place,” says Dominik Wlazny. In the interview, he names solidarity as his most important topic. Especially in times of crisis, it is incredibly important to show solidarity and help together. There is still room for improvement in Austria.
“Of course, Rene Benko is also happy about his climate bonus, but that’s not solidarity.”
Dominik Vlasny
Dominik Wlazny also emphasizes that his moral compass is decisive for him. In his view, it is a must for a Federal President to take a clear moral stance and to take action when something goes against this compass. Standing up and being loud when things get morally wrong is also very important in everyday life, says Wlazny.
Ban fax
Despite an obvious unwillingness to answer questions about beer, Dominik Wlazny also gave us an insight into his views on the liquid gold. Subsequently, it is also eponymous for his party. When asked whether he would ban a certain brand of beer if he had the need to do so as Federal President, he answered.
“Faxing is already a crime. Something has to be done with faxes. Warm faxes make me sick.”
