Prague: Zbraslav comes alive with the ZbrasLOVE festival
29/09/2022 17:50 | Press Release
A wide spectrum of creative and community programs awaits all residents and visitors of Prague’s Zbraslav this Friday, September 30, 2022, where the cultural street festival ZbrasLOVE is being produced for the first time.
The accompanying program starts at 1 p.m. in U Lékárny street and will last the whole month. Visitors can look forward to, among other things, theater performances for the little ones, dance performances, art workshops for primary school students, the involvement of various artists and lecturers, public readings or an offer of evening film screenings.
The event is organized by Kreativní Praha z.ú. and takes place in cooperation with the Prague–Zbraslav district. The goal of this project is to create a safer space between the local primary school, kindergarten and school canteen, and at the same time to revive this place with an interesting program.
“We want these projects to show that Prague is a creative and cultural place open to all forms of cooperation. Therefore, we deliberately focus on local cultural and community organization. I believe that such support develops quality neighborly relations and supports the improvement of the everyday life of all Prague residents,” says the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Exhibitions Mr. m of Prague Hana Třeštíková, who will visit the festival.
“We are considering closing the street to cars for a long time. Children from primary school go to the school canteen every day, and a kindergarten is also located nearby. The festival should show the possibilities of how to meaningfully use this space and make it safer for everyone in the future,” says one of the organizers of the festival, Deputy Mayor of Zbraslavi Michaela Bernardová.
The festival continues the long-term efforts of Kreativní Prahy to support community culture in locations outside the center of Prague. Creative Prague is behind the “Prague Chairs and Tables” project, which annually places several chairs and tables around Prague for public use. “Pražské plácky” is a project that focuses on the maximum use of the potential of various places in Prague – and this is also an example of the Zbraslav autumn festival.
“Just in the last year, we realized the monthly Candy Festival! in Prague’s Uhříněvsa, threatened by the revitalization of the Tram Loop area in Dlabačov or suitable for the dramaturgy of the newly formed Smetana embankment. In addition, we created a Cultural Compass for the district, a cultural development manual, which has been helping them with the implementation of similar projects for the second year already,” describes the selected projects of Kreativní Prague focused on community culture, its director Petr Peřinka.
Mainly local organizations are involved in the creation and implementation of the program, which will have the opportunity to present their activities to local residents. There are also some traffic restrictions associated with the events. Detailed information is available at website of the municipality.
