Gasoline is the cheapest in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on average it costs 37.56 crowns per liter. It also makes diesel cheaper. Its average price of 43.01 crowns per liter is the lowest in the last five weeks. This is according to data from CCS, which tracks prices. Fuel prices in the Czech Republic have been falling since roughly the beginning of July, with notice of the end of the holidays.

A liter of the best-selling Natural 95 gasoline has become cheaper by almost 80 pennies over the last week. The average price of diesel fell by 96 pennies over the same period. Even so, gasoline is about 3.50 crowns more expensive than a year ago. At the end of last September, motorists paid 11 crowns less for diesel than at present.
The cheapest fuel is filled by drivers in the South Bohemian Region, where a liter of gasoline costs 36.83 crowns on average. They sell diesel there for an average of 42.17 crowns.
Conversely, the most expensive fuel is offered by pumps in Prague, where a liter of gasoline costs an average of 38.12 crowns. Motorists in the metropolis fill up with diesel for 43.65 crowns per liter.

August inspections of fuel retailers’ margins showed a significant drop in diesel, where the total came close to the annual average of 3.60 crowns per liter, the Ministry of Finance said last week.
For the best-selling Natural 95 gasoline, dealer margins also decreased last month, but the decline was not so significant, and the current 4.80 kroner per liter is still well above last year’s values.
In addition to controlling margins, the government also took other measures as a result of rising fuel prices, the main prices of which began to rise at the turn of February and March after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Decision on the abolition of the mandatory mixing of bio-components into fuel and on the abolition of road tax for passenger cars, vans and trucks up to 12 tons.
From the beginning of June, for four months, it reduced excise duty on gasoline and diesel by 1.50 kroner per liter, and extended this reduction for diesel until the end of next year.
