18 young people allowed the moor
The second educational project set up by the Métropole brings together 18 young people on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 September. Their mission: to restore the natural environment in the Rouvray forest.
18 young people from the area (Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, Darnétal, Canteleu, Petit-Quevilly, Grand-Couronne) work on the edge of the Rouvray forest, for two days, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 September, to restore the natural environment. They are supervised by educators from four specialized prevention associations (Afpac, Aper, Aspic and Caps) and by agents from the Métropole Rouen Normandie.
This involves clearing and clearing the site in order to restore the moor and in particular to protect the heather. “The calluna is a local heathexplains Guillaume Glère, from the Department of the Environment of the Metropolis. It is also an umbrella species: by protecting it, we protect the other species for which it serves as a habitat, such as the lizard from stumps, insects, spiders…”
These two days of intervention also make it possible to offer young people a salaried activity. With many advantages: regaining self-confidence and confidence in their ability to do things, working on interpersonal skills in a work situation, testing a professional field, developing a feeling of social utility, decentralizing daily problems, encouraging continuation or resumption of training.
