Urban development, UN conference in San Marino
The Titan as a springboard for sustainable architecture. During yesterday’s congress conference, the Secretary to the Territory Stefano Canti put the international commitments that have seen or will see the San Marino territory as protagonist in the spotlight.
First of all, the 83rd UNECE conference of the urban development committee to be held on the Titan from 3 to 7 October. “It will be the UN through the Economic Commission for Europe that will settle in our territory with 56 strong adhering countries”, explains Canti. Three events are planned, starting with the declaration on the principles of sustainable architecture that will be signed by a caliber of the caliber of Stefano Boeri and Lord Norman Foster, who designed many of the London “towers”, as well as the Titan World Trade Center. Finally, the presidents of the Orders of Architects and Engineers of San Marino and Italy will not be missing. An equally significant moment, continued Canti, will be the “Forum of Mayors” which it will propose to endow with an international character. The latest initiative will be followed by Jean Todt, former general manager of Scuderia Ferrari, as well as former ambassador of the Titan and current UN delegate for road safety who will give a lecture at middle schools.
Synergy with the Polytechnic
Good results for the Terra Madre event which, dedicated to the promotion of sustainable food and organized in Turin for 156 countries from 22 to 26 September last, sanctioned the first participation of the Republic which opened cultural exchanges with Albania, Brazil and Cuba. Around the corner, adds the secretary, there is also a further collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano on the recovery of the asphalt path, in the new road pavements, which will provide the country with important legislation.
A support from Africa
On the solidarity front “San Marino for children” instead, it will organize a type mission in favor of Malawi thanks to the recent approval of the regulatory framework for civil peace corps which will allow health doctor Chiara Giovannini to create a pediatric ward for post-birth management, from zero to 5 years. International commitments already concluded for the Foreign Secretary Luca Beccari who participated in the 77th general assembly of the United Nations in New York. Finally, the date of October 10 has already been set, which will mark a step forward for the association agreement with the European Union.
