Repair of tracks and roads in Brno’s Židenice will limit traffic for a month
“The technical condition of the tram line and especially the road surface in Táborská Street requires repair, which cannot be postponed for years to come. Despite the energy crisis, we managed to allocate funds for its implementation, which lasts from the end of September to the end of October,” said the director of the Transport Company of the City of Brno, Miloš Havránek.
The last larger section of the tram line in Táborská Street should receive repairs. The transport company will replace the tracks here on the 296-meter long section between the intersections with Gajdošova and Otakar Ševčík streets. During the repair, the worn rails will be replaced with new ones. The carrier will also replace the old sound deadening elements with new ones during the project. “He will install new rubber sidewalls and lay down anti-vibration mats,” explained Hana Tomaštíková, a spokeswoman for the transport company. The road, which is also used by cars along with public transport vehicles, will also receive new asphalt.

According to Denisa Adamcová from Brno, however, the carriers did not exactly plan the best time. Although Adamcová lives in the center of the city, she drives her daughter to school in Židenice every morning and regularly drives through Táborská. “I’m taking my daughter to school in Kameňačky and I don’t know how to do it so I can make it to work.” I understand that it needs to be repaired, but in the training year it’s really nonsense,” says Adamcová. She goes by tram, as she says, it’s a long way away by car. “I don’t have time to go around somewhere, I work in the healthcare sector and I have to be on time at work,” he adds angrily.
Nine lines
The month-long blackout will affect a total of nine lines such as 9, 10, 55, 58, 75, 78, N89, N97, N98.
Planned exclusion in Táborská street in Brno Židenice.
For example, tram line number 9 will only be in operation on a semi-circular route from Lesná to the center and back. In the center, it will go from Moravské náměstí via Malinovské náměstí to the Hlavní nádraží and back along its route via Náměstí Svobody in the direction of Lesná, Čertova rokle. It will not serve the stops in the section Vlhká – Juliánov. Tram number 9 ran this way even during the construction of the Plotní tram, when it was impossible for the line to go to Juliánov.
The connections of tram line 10 that normally end at the Geislerova stop will be extended to the Novolíšeňská loop as a replacement. At the Krásné stop, it will be possible to transfer to bus lines in the direction of Líšné.

Bus lines 55 and 75 will be diverted between the Gajdošova – Špačkova stops via the Otakar Ševčík, Krásné and Podlomní stops. Likewise, bus line 58 will be diverted between the stops Gajdošova – Juliánov via the stops Otakar Ševčík, Krásné, Podlomní and Dělnický dům. According to Kristýna Slováčková, who lives in Židenice, if buses 55, 75 and 58 continue to stop in both directions on Gajdošova Street, she will not mind. “Of course, this will probably increase the time costs of travel, because the trips will probably be unpleasant,” she admitted.
