Prince Albert II and Princess Stéphanie of Monaco launched the Rainier III Centenary
In Monaco, the year 2023 will be that of Prince Rainier III. The Principality will indeed celebrate its centenary – he was born on May 31, 1923 – with a whole program of commemoration. This was announced this Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the entrance to the Gardens of the Prince’s Palace, by his son Prince Albert II and his youngest daughter, Princess Stéphanie. Present at their side were their older sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover, and the monarch’s wife, Princess Charlene of Monaco, as well as two of Princess Stéphanie’s three children, Louis Ducruet – who came with his wife Marie Chevallier – and Camille Gottlieb.
Stéphanie, “very active” president of this commemoration
Regarding this presentation,Monaco Gazetteadded that it brought together a large number of heads of institutions and entities in the Principality, including members of the government. The media reported that Prince Albert II had insisted that his father, who reigned on the Rock for nearly 56 years, had accumulated Monegasque sovereignty and made the Principality “a modern, dynamic and open state” by showing a great sense of adaptation. Chairman of the commemoration committee, he said Princess Stephanie was the active, and indeed “very active” chairperson. The latter has given itself the mission of paying homage to their father, by introducing him in all his facets, especially to the younger generations.
The festivities, which will include various events, will begin on May 31 with a big party, with a big birthday cake, intended for residents and Monegasques. They will end in early 2024 with the 50th anniversary of the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival, a major event in the Principality that he initiated and to which he was very attached.
