A New Sweden artist will show some of his work at the Aroostook Agency on Aging during the month of October.
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A New Sweden artist will show some of his work at the Aroostook Agency on Aging during the month of October.
Tammy Dube’s month-long Artists for Aging exhibit opens Friday, Oct. 7, in time for Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk, which brings together events from various venues, including Wintergreen Arts Center, Reed Gallery at the University of Maine, The Common Gallery and The Common Gallery. Akeley Gallery at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library.
The artist will be at the 260 Main Street gallery to discuss his work with community members from 5-7pm during the Art Walk. Otherwise, the public can visit the Agency on Aging gallery anytime during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dube is a pastel and oil painter with no restrictions on a subject. The Guerette native specializes in portraits of pets and people, show cars and landscapes. While living in central Maine, she was a pastel and oil portrait artist and taught pastel classes for children. She often displayed her artwork at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Since moving back to Aroostook County in 2013, Dube’s first art exhibit was titled “Rebirth,” held at Northern Maine Community College. She also displayed her work at Mark and the Presque Isle Public Libraries and a virtual show at the Wintergreen Arts Center in Presque Isle where she has taught a pet portraiture class. She also won the Aroostook County Maine Reunited contest with her oil painting “Picking Fiddleheads.”
