Letter to elected officials: NO to concrete where the Suzon flows! – dijoncter.info
A new real estate project destroying biodiversity in the city threatens the northern districts of Dijon ! By the irresponsible vote of the Municipal Council on June 27, 3 hectares of wilderness are promised imminent destruction, in a complete denial of local democracy, however advocated by the Mayor.
Like a letter in the mail…
With the exception of 3 right-wing elected officials, almost all of the Municipal Council voted TO PAY report no. 19 at its meeting on 27 June. The sale of municipal land of more than one hectare to two Dijon promoters, allowing the realization of a devastating real estate project of 3 hectares, went like a letter in the mail, with the support of elected environmentalists ! That evening, developers 4S Immo and Groupe Edouard Denis saw themselves opening a boulevard to build 85 housing units in the north of Dijon between rue de Bruges and route d’Ahuy.
Venice 2 or how to make democracy sink
Pompously named “Venice 2”, this real estate project is an additional illustration of the destructive madness that has been driving the City of Dijon for 20 years. !
Island of natural freshness in a densely populated neighborhood and reserve of biodiversity, this space constitutes a refuge for humans and animals during the scorching summer that we have just experienced.
And it’s in the press on 1uh July that the rivers of this area, preserved and appreciated by all, learned of the City’s project. While participatory democracy is the new trick of the municipal team to cowardly hide its misdeeds, the inhabitants of the neighborhood have provided neither a presentation, nor consultation, nor any information on what is going on. at their expense. Qualifying comment that other than “denial of democracy” ?
The graceful appeal of 7 associations
It was without counting on the strength of the collective and the energy generated by the general fed up with the concretization in Dijon. At the heart of summer, 7 local associations [1] mobilized to collect a free appeal asking the Mayor of Dijon to withdraw the deliberation of June 27 which records the sale of the land to the promoters.
To date, the associations are still awaiting a response from the Mayor. The contentious appeal brought before the Administrative Court will be the logical step in the event of a negative, unsatisfactory or non-existent response.
At this stage, no building permit has yet been issued by the City. Everything is still possible legally.
A petition gathers 2,000 signatures in 10 days
According to the consecrated expression, there is no chance, there are only appointments. Sunday, September 4, the Vélotour passed on the Suzon promenade, allowing cyclists to admire one last time the end of summer on the ground still unscathed from the scars of construction machinery.
The citizen collective “Save the banks of the Suzon” took the opportunity to launch its petition. The claims are clear: cancellation of the sale of land, no issuance of building permits, then consultation of the inhabitants of the Dijon conurbation on the future destination of this municipal common good.
More than 700 Vélotour cyclists stopped to sign the petition. Added to the 1,350 online signatories, there are thus more than 2,000 people, including 50 % of Dijonnais and Fontenois and 20 % of inhabitants of other municipalities in the agglomeration, who signed the petition in about ten days.
Rollback is possible !
Monday, September 26, the municipal councilors received a letter reminding them of their irresponsible vote of June 27. They have the power to reconsider their decision by requesting the convocation of an extraordinary municipal council to deliberate on the cancellation of the sale of the land.
We dare to hope that this letter will open their eyes and that the values of democracy, social justice and respect for nature will not remain empty words in Dijon.
