“Closure of the Acquacalda in stand by” – Corriere di Siena
“We are gritting our teeth to understand what will happen from 3 October on. At the moment the Acquacalda swimming pool will not close on 30 September“. Word of Simone Pacciani, president of Uisp Siena, which is expressed in this way about the most important swimming facility in the city, at risk due to the expensive bills. With the last sting of 76 thousand euros, in fact, he himself had been the alarm of the structure, causing various concerns about the estate among the 60 employees, among the users who have already paid for the season ticket and not only. Since the other facilities are undergoing renovations, adults and children have to give up sporting activities in the pool from the end of the month. The danger is now averted, but it risks exploding if not defused by immediate measures and aid to the sector.
Just last week, on the occasion of a meeting at Palazzo Pubblico, Mayor Luigi De Mossi had asked President Uisp to wait a few weeks to find a solution to the emergency bills: “We welcome the request – said Pacciani – to understand if the Municipality can help us, and how”. The situation therefore remains on standby at least until October 3, the day on which the mayor, local authorities and associations will meet to discuss the demand for high prices and bills. In the first real comparison, the strategic lines will be defined within which the administration will move to make the resources amounting to 1 million and 340 thousand euros available to families and businesses, a figure allocated with the budget change approved in the last city council. In the letter of convocation, the administration underlined how the serious crisis must be faced together, as was done for Covid, reacting and showing how cohesive Sienese society is: “Never before – reads the note – the emergency of supplies linked to consumption, raw materials, bills and the costs that families have to bear, bites the wallet and above all the tranquility and serenity of citizens ”.
It will therefore be essential to understand how the available resources will be distributed and how much will be due to the Acquacalda plant, hoping it will be enough to stem the collapse. According to the administration, it is necessary to “structure an operational commission to identify the most sensitive instruments, sectors and initiatives to contain the increase in bills and the trend in costs. Obviously the Municipality will do its part for the distribution of the identified amount “.
