Albert of Monaco paid tribute to his mother Grace Kelly in Nice
Prince Albert II of Monaco paid tribute this Tuesday evening to his mother Grace Kelly for the 40th anniversary of her disappearance. He attended the Cinémathèque de Nice screening of La Main au collet, shot in 1954 by Alfred Hitchcock.

40 years ago, on September 14, 1982, the Principality mourned its princess. Between Monaco and La Turbie in the Alpes-Maritimes, Grace Kelly dies following a car accident the day before. She was 52 years old.

This film marks the meeting between Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco followed by a princely wedding in 1956. In 1982 it was on this famous Corniche that she lost her life in a tragic car accident.
But the myth remains intact.
This film is broadcast at the city’s cinematheque as part of dunes retrospective of the eleven films filmed by the Princess of Monaco.
A hundred spectators attended this session at which the current sovereign of the Principality had been invited by the city of Nice.

Prince Albert had himself chosen to review this feature film, confiding that he had so far “seen more times The train will whistle three times”.
