The adventures of a couple from Strasbourg visiting Toulouse and the Tarn
André and Séverine Vadam, originally from Haut-Rhin, experienced many small disappointments during their stay in the region. They were, however, charmed by the locals.
Every year, André and Séverine Vadam spend a week visiting a region of France. Last March, the couple from Haguenau, north of Strasbourg, set their sights on the Tarn and the Toulouse region. “I insisted with my wife. It’s the Cité de l’Espace that interests me. My wife especially wanted to see the Capitol and the cathedral of Albi, ”says the 71-year-old retiree. As soon as their decision is made, André and his wife buy their entry tickets online.
Three days before their scheduled departure on September 3, they are disappointed: they receive an email informing them that the museum is “exceptionally closed”. “The space museum refused to reimburse the tickets on the pretext that they were valid for one year, but we have traveled 2,200 kilometers, we are not going to return to the region soon, and then there are so many other things to see in France! André “falls back” on visiting the Airbus site but is unable to pay for the tickets online. “We finally missed the Château de Mauriac, it was very beautiful. These first disappointments will not be the last. When the couple wanted to visit “the last Textile factory in France”, in the Tarn, they realized that it too was “exceptionally closed” on the day of their location.
A tuk-tuk tour canceled
On Friday, he spends the day in the Pink City. After tasting “a delicious cassoulet” at the Victor-Hugo market, André and Séverine perform in front of the Zara store. They booked a tuk-tuk tour through the tourist office that morning. “Seeing nothing coming, we return to the tourist office to be told that the visit has been canceled due to the disruption caused by the Toulouse clearance sale. The icing on the cake: leaving her Tarn accommodation at five o’clock in the morning to return to the Haut-Rhin, Séverine missed the last three steps of the staircase. “We didn’t think it was serious, but when we arrived in Strasbourg, we went straight to the emergency room: my wife had suffered a double metatarsal fracture! »
Despite these misadventures, the two Strasbourgers keep good memories of their time in the South West. “We were able to visit a lot of things, and above all, we appreciated the kindness of the people, we really came across some super nice people! I love the response from Toulouse when we thank them: “with pleasure”, it’s still better than nothing! Asked this Tuesday, the Cité de l’Espace indicated that the reimbursement of unused tickets “was in progress”.
