Th. Kastanidis: Taxis from Athens and other cities will not come to Rhodes
The proposal submitted by the president of SATA Mr. Lymberopoulos in Athens caused anger and indignation among the taxi drivers of Rhodes.
Quite simply, he suggested that taxis from Athens should come to Rhodes and other island tourist destinations to meet seasonal demand.
The proposal was made to the Taxi Federation with the aim of reaching the competent ministry, to be approved and created.
Speaking to “Sky Rodos”, the president of the Taxi Association of Rhodes, Mr. Theodosis Kastanidis, expressed his indignation at the proposal, which will certainly not be used.
“He is a president of a union and nothing more. He went and suggested that seasonal licenses be given to the islands. I don’t know what games Mr. Lymberopoulos is playing. While we have our Federation, he wants to gain power to do what he wants.
I don’t know what he’s thinking. It will do a lot of damage to the industry though if it gains power. The Federation does not approve the proposal.
Who will control these people who will come to work here? It bothered us that he suggested it without asking anyone. We were disturbed by the goal of the proposal,” said Mr. Kastanidis.
Mr. Lymberopoulos is also preparing an assembly that will take place in December.
In response to a question about the nine-seater taxis, Mr. Kastanidis stated that by November 15, some vehicles will have been launched in Rhodes.
Next summer, 35 nine-seaters will be released, while the Association has the possibility to activate 110.
