Sweden issues warning due to leaks on Nord Stream pipelines

The Norwegian Maritime Administration issued a navigational warning on Tuesday due to leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
The authority said it had no information on what caused the leaks, which were in Swedish and Danish waters near the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
“We are warning vessels in the vicinity and asking them to maintain a safe distance of five nautical miles (about nine kilometers) from the sites,” it said, while warning that aircraft should maintain a safety altitude of 1,000 meters in the area.
The Danish energy authority said on Monday that authorities had been informed of a pressure drop in the now-defunct Nord Stream 2 pipeline and that a preliminary assessment indicated that a leak had occurred. However, it was said that the incident is not expected to have consequences for the security of Danish gas supply.
The Danish Maritime Authority also issued a navigation warning and established a no-go zone within five nautical miles of the pipeline.
Nord Stream AG announced on Monday that it registered a pressure drop on both strings of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and the reasons behind it are being investigated.
Russia halted gas flow through the pipeline indefinitely earlier this month.
