speed will soon be regulated on the A1 depending on traffic
Depending on traffic conditions, the speed may be reduced on the A1 motorway from Monday 3 October.
From 130 to 70 km/h, the speed will soon be regulated on the A1 motorway in Nord-Pas-de-Calais depending on traffic conditions. Streamlining traffic, reducing accidents and pollution are among the objectives cited by the Interdepartmental Roads Directorate.
This device is already carried out on the A25 motorway and is “conclusive” according to the Interdepartmental Roads Directorate.
“Speed regulation in the Méteren sector in Lille practically saves us 8 minutes on average per motorist on a journey that makes 25”, develops Xavier Delebarre, interdepartmental director of roads in the North sector.
The traffic jam on the southern ring road has also been reduced by 30 minutes.
Unclog the A1
13 light panels with variable messages have been installed for this purpose. The axes concerned are 17 kilometers between Dourges and Ronchin in the Paris-Lille direction. In the other direction, a portion of 8 kilometers is affected by this regulation, between Ronchin and Seclin.
Other developments could also see the light of day on the A1 from next year. To relieve congestion on one of the busiest axes of the metropolis, the installation of flashing red lights to regulate access to the motorway or even a carpooling lane are planned.
