It is 6:15 p.m. on June 15, 2022, when the police “spot” Mathieu *, expose the latter’s lawyer. The 26-year-old man stands in front of the president of the correctional court of Caen (Calvados), to be tried, a few months after the facts with which he is accused, Monday September 26. In June, his file had been returned.
“Known for acts of drug use”, Mathieu would have been mainly checked, according to his lawyer, “because of his skin color, because he is black”.
Pendant Observed over 1 hour
The speaker retraces the course of this spring evening. In the Caen station district, the Bayeusain “enters a bar” at 6:15 p.m. He comes out at 7:20 p.m. The police are still keeping an eye on Mathieu.
It will have taken more than an hour of surveillance, whereas at that time, there was no violation! I’m surprised by this weather…
The defendant’s representative continues. Mathieu “joined two individuals in a vehicle”. The lawyer takes sentences from the file: “The police found that they seemed nervous, particularly Mathieu”. Nevertheless, “at this stage, there is nothing! However, the police then proceed “to an identity check”.
“Perfectly legal” surveillance
In response to the lawyer, the prosecution justifies itself. “It’s much more complex than that. »
Mathieu was already known to justice. Moreover, the station district is not a trivial place, it is a central point of traffic in Caen. Then, he joins a car registered in Seine-Maritime, a department which supplies Calvados with narcotics, in particular heroin.
Drug which was found “in the jacket of one of the three individuals, thrown to the side, before the police check”, specifies the president. This surveillance was “perfectly legal”, insists the prosecution.
No confession
Mathieu does not “recognize” the facts of which he is accused. “I’ve never sold heroin in my entire life. The employee on a permanent contract in a delivery company lives with his girlfriend, a headhunter.
I don’t understand, you have everything to yourself, what are you doing in court?
To which he replies: “I am not saying that I am an altar boy, but I have nothing to do with this affair”.
8 months imprisonment
The prosecution requires for Mathieu, “18 months of imprisonment including six months accompanied by a probationary suspension of two years”.
Finally, after deliberation, Mathieu was sentenced to “eight months’ imprisonment with accommodation and placement in house arrest, under an electronic bracelet”.
