ASVEL loses in Blois, Monaco wins in Nancy
Chance of the calendar of this 2nd day of Betclic Elite, the two locomotives of the French basket, ASVEL and Monaco, were opposed to the two promoted, Blois and Nancy. And only the Roca Team managed to win! ASVEL, reigning French champions, indeed suffered their second defeat in two days, because after Cholet, it was Blois who offered themselves the scalp of TJ Parker’s men. The Blésois won the score of 86-82 by delivering a very good performance, even if they were a little scared at the end. Blois led 20-19 at the end of the first quarter then 47-45 at halftime, before signing a fiery third quarter which allowed him to count twelve points in advance (70-58). ASVEL returned to -2 in the last minute, but the promoted managed to win by four points, in the wake of a Thomas Cornely who finished with 16 points and 7 assists (17pts, 4rbds, 4pds for David Slightly ASVEL side). The logic was however respected on the side of Nancy, where the Pro B champion lost 76-89 against Monaco, deprived of Mike James and Elie Okobo. Roberto Gallinat’s Lorraine (25pts), who delighted Gentilly with his dunks, held on very well for half time (42-43), before gradually giving way in the second period to Monegasque superiority, and in particular to Jarron Blossomgame (20pts).
Rolled out Boulogne-Levallois
The other French basketball star, Boulogne-Levallois, recovered well after his initial defeat against Gravelines-Dunkerque, by easily beating Pau-Lacq-Orthez 82-59 in a one-sided match where the Metropolitans won the four quarters (35-21, mt), carried by a Hugo Besson of the big nights, with 18 points on the clock ( 10pts, 8rbds, 3pds for Victor Wembanyama). Vitalis Chikoko, author of 14 points and 9 rebounds on his old floor, could not prevent the sinking of Pau. Le Mans, for its part, won for the second time in two games, winning 62-69 at Limoges, still fanny. The MSB, which led 30-33 at the break, had a nine-point lead in the third quarter, then eleven in the last and won without shaking, thanks in particular to 16 points and 5 rebounds from Williams Narace (12pts and 6rbds for Desi Rodriguez on the CSP side). Second victory also for Bourg-en-Bresse, who won 71-73 at Portel, after trailing by eight points at the start of the second quarter, then leading by ten points in the third. Le Portel came back to 62-62, but finally failed by two points (14pts for Pierre Pelos on the Burgian side, 21pts, 8rbds and 6pds for Emmanuel Nzekwesi on the Portelois side).
Paris loses the derby
Difficult start to the season, however, for Paris. Already beaten in Bourg at the opening, the capital club lost in the first of the six Ile-de-France derbies of the season, on the Nanterre floor. Pascal Donnadieu’s men won 97-83. Paris however led 22-27 at the end of the first quarter, before conceding a 10-0 in the second quarter (39-33), and the Nanterriens then flew away, to count up to 22 points in advance in the third (72-50) and unfold at the end of the match. Miralem Halilovic finishes with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the Nanterriens and Kyle Allman with 18 for the Parisians. The card of the evening is to be put to the credit of Roanne, who crushed Gravelines-Dunkerque on the score of 111-70, mentioning in particular by a 35-12 in the first quarter. Ronald March enjoyed himself and finished with 21 points and 5 rebounds (19pts for DJ Seeley on the BCM side). Finally, Dijon won its second victory by beating Strasbourg (which remains at 0 successes) 100-92, in a match where each team had its quarter (+8 for the JDA at the end of the first quarter, equality at half -time, +5 for the JDA at the end of the third) before the Dijonnais flew away, with a David Holston at 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (21pts for Marcus Keene on the SIG side). The last match of this 2nd day will be held in December, and the 3rd day will start this Friday.
