Thursday, September 29 – La Grande Marche Oblique: A tightrope walker on campus!
A spectacular journey by the Cie Underclouds, set to music by the Orchester Oblique.
Look up on Thursday, September 29!
The Grande Marche Oblique is specially created for the 300th anniversary of the University of Burgundy. An ascent of the tightrope walker Matthieu Hibon accompanied by an orchestra of forty musicians as a symbolic gesture to highlight the architecture of one of the first buildings of the university and to pay homage to the University of Burgundy three times centenary. If that’s not a sacred program!
This tailor-made collaboration offers a high-rise cable performance off the beaten path, in a gestural, primitive and childish expression that would not have displeased the artist Karel Appel, creator of the colorful sculpture “Anti-Robot” installed on Erasmus Esplanade. The narrow and upward path of the wire of the tightrope walker, represents here the course of life of each one through adversity but also the lightness of existence. The music of the Orchester Oblique sublimates this performance. It is a symphony orchestra augmented by a rhythm section, original and resolutely modern.
