Tropical storm puts Brussels Airlines flight to Gran Canaria Zaventem
ZaventemYesterday morning at dinner for the passengers of Brussels Airlines who wanted to fly to Gran Canaria. The plane was diverted to Fuerteventura, where it had to be grounded for three hours. Ultimately, the plane had to return to Brussels Airport.
“On September 25, flight SN3783 from Brussels to Gran Canaria was unable to land as planned due to tropical storm Hermine over Las Palmas airport,” explains Maaike Andries, spokesperson for Brussels Airlines. “The plane has diverted to Fuerteventura airport, where planes were also waiting for the weather to improve.”
The plane was said to have been grounded for three hours. Travelers were not allowed to leave the plane. “Shortly before 4 pm it was communicated by local air traffic control that our plane would not be allowed to land in Las Palmas, it was planned to return to Brussels,” says Andries.
“All passengers were provided with a hotel stay near the airport by Brussels Airlines and received a voucher for an evening meal. Today, Brussels Airlines inaugurated a special flight to take all 174 passengers to their destination in Las Palmas.” It departed at 9:15 am.
