Especially for BNR, Gaibov commented on the reasons that led to the elimination of gymnastic sports from the program of the third European Games in Poland in 2023.
“At the first European Games, we did everything possible to make gymnastics part of the program. That was in Baku. All 6 gymnastic types were included. At the games in Belarus we are negotiating and they were also part of the program. There are problems with one of the disciplines, but thanks to the Belarusian Federation, nothing was cleared up and competitors in the 6 gymnastic sports took part again in Minsk. Now for the Games in Poland, the Lower Olympic Committee and European Gymnastics negotiated, we did everything possible. However, the organizers do not point out a number of reasons and refuse to include gymnastic points in the program. I am very sorry, but it is a fact that one of the three Olympic sports of category A will be missing. Not long ago, the European Championships were held in Munich, you saw how popular gymnastics was. We hope that the organizers of the next European Needles will think and return gymnastics to the program”
Deputy Minister of Sports in Azerbaijan is a Bulgarian – Mariana Vasileva. For many years, she was the head coach of the Azerbaijani national rhythmic gymnastics team.
“I am very happy that my deputy is Marianna Vasileva. She has been living in Azerbaijan for many years. We are very pleased to have her working with us. He did a great deal for the development of gymnastics in our country. In the last year, she has an eye on all sports in our country and takes care of them very successfully. It would be nice to have more people like that. You are right that Formula 1 races are held in our country. Next year we will again host a round of this prestigious race. We will once again organize the world and European championships in various sports. You know that the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be in Azerbaijan. This decision was made not long ago because the championship was supposed to be in Russia, but because of the war it was taken away from them. We don’t have much time to organize and I am very grateful that our federation agreed to organize it. We have a gymnasium in which we can organize a big championship at any time. In 2023, we will host the world championship in taekwondo, the world championship in sports shooting. Of course, we will organize various World Cups and Grand Prix tournaments. In 2023, we will celebrate 30 years since the establishment of the Azerbaijan Olympic Committee and 25 years since our President Ilham Aliyev headed the organization. You know that sport is state policy in Azerbaijan. We have the best gymnasium in the world and we have created wonderful conditions for all athletes. For the first games we built wonderful European equipment for water sports, also for shooting. Many Olympic complexes have been built in different places throughout the country, so the sport is developing not only in Baku, but also in other regions of Azerbaijan. We are working on a specially developed strategy for the overall development of the sport. Thanks to her to today’s information in many sports our athletes occupy the top places. Proof of this is the recently concluded Islamic Games, in which 54 countries participated and we took 4th place in the nation ranking. We had competitors in 24 sports. We must continue to work in the same way with the Paris Olympics in mind. I hope that our athletes will perform well in all the upcoming qualifying tournaments and you will get quotas”
At the end of the year, the European headquarters will have a congress election, and Farid Gaibov is the only candidate for the post of chairman.
“Maria Petrova was the president of the Technical Committee of European Gymnastics for many years. Last year, she decided to become part of the Technical Committee of the World Federation. I wish her success in her new career. The Congress of European Gymnastics is at the end of the year. My candidacy for the presidency is unique and this time my mandate will be for 3 years. I have many plans to improve gymnastics in Europe. I think that over the years we have achieved very good results, both sports-technical and financial. There are already many countries that organize competitions. We have 50 countries developing all gymnastics disciplines. I expect activity from other countries as well. I have a good financial plan and financial reserve. Thank God everything is fine with us. But we will not stop developing. We have many plans that affect the management of European championships. We have a strategy, but it always depends on the international federation as well. I am a member of its Executive Committee, I believe that it should consider us, since Europe, as the largest continent, is represented in it. At the European Gymnastics Congress at the end of the year, a new Executive Committee will be elected. Unfortunately, Bulgaria has no candidates for it, but I hope that there will be Bulgarians in the technical committees again. Now Mariela Stoycheva is a member of the one in trampoline juices, Nikolay Ivanov is a chat of the one in acrobatics. Arena Armeets is well known to the gymnastics community because it organizes many gymnastics competitions. This year, in addition to the completed world championship in rhythmic gymnastics, the world championship in trampoline jumping will also be held. You are very active. You have traditions You have many people who understand the work and do it professionally. I wish the Bulgarian candidates success at the congress”, concluded Gaibov.
