Recession? But no matter what, the head of Domoplan is launching a new construction company
Tomáš Vavřík from Domoplan
Brno developer Tomáš Vavřík holds the motto that every crisis is an opportunity. Or, to put another cliché, those who don’t get lazy get green. And so, after starting to look far beyond the borders of the South Moravian metropolis with his company Domoplan, he is now also expanding his business scope. And, of course, he has big, multi-billion dollar ambitions.
The forty-seven-year-old educated teacher launched Domoplan fourteen years ago and built it into a leading Brno residential real estate developer. Gradually, however, his empire grew stronger: on the one hand, projects outside his hometown, and on the other hand, business divisions were added. This spring, Vavřík therefore proceeded with organizational adjustments and founded a new Fipox group, under which all his activities began.
The construction company Thierra has now joined the developer Domoplan, the investment fund, the specialist in holiday apartments MyResorts or the architectural studio. Here, Vavřík brought together a generation of younger entrepreneurs with Václav Stehn, the owner of the Alglas company. As a specialist in light perimeter cladding, it became part of the construction holding.
The two men know each other well, because Stehn’s company has already paid off as a supplier on Domoplan projects. And Thierra, who works on all the residential buildings of Vavřík’s company, will continue to do so, i.e. on Pekárenské dvor, on Staré pivovar or Nová Líšna in Brno or on Mariánské cesta near Brandýs nad Labem.
In addition, Thierra, or rather her daughter Alglas, continues construction projects, such as the new headquarters of the Supreme Audit Office, the Bratislava campus LakesidePark 2 or the Dronet technology park. In the next year, the company has contracts for construction projects in Ústí nad Labem or in Slovakia.
“From our direct experience with construction contractors, we know for a long time what problems plague the Czech construction industry,” says Thierry Vavřík about the motivations for the establishment. “The lack of quality personnel and a responsible approach has an effect on deadlines, prolonging work, increasing the prices of materials and other problems that then affect the end customers,” explains further.
And Václav Stehno adds: “The key element that Thierra stands on can simply be described as First Republic ideals. For me, these are above all decency and authenticity. We want to differentiate ourselves from other companies on the market by not being a reseller of services. Our goal is to employ enough people internally, we are introducing a similar operating principle that is and is inherent in family businesses.”
In 2023, the construction holding should exceed one billion crowns in sales, and within a few years it wants to reach five billion. He plans to employ up to 250 people, and he would also like to enter the transport construction segment from the construction of residential and administrative complexes.
