– Not a complicated break – VG
Stine Bredal Oftedal has to sit out Norway’s European Championship warm-up matches due to a broken nose. It is the second time in three months that a smack in the nose has caused trouble for the national team captain. There are 39 days until the championship.
– It’s not a complicated breakup, so hopefully it won’t take too long, she writes in a text message to VG. TV 2 mentioned the injury first. Bredal Oftedal does not fear that the broken nose will affect the EC play-offs starting November 4.
The Györ profile got a nose-stealer in the first attack of the Champions League semi-final in June. Men chose to take the pain, played matches and were also fully involved in the Vipers becoming strong in the Champions League final the following day.
But now Bredal Oftedal is taking no chances. She suffered the fracture in Györ training on Friday and did not play in the surprise home defeat to Metz on Sunday.
– An unfortunate blow to the face, she describes.
Bredal Oftedal also does not play in Norway’s games in the Golden League against Switzerland (Thursday), the Netherlands (Saturday) and Denmark (Sunday).
– What I know for now is that I have to have another check approximately 10 days after the break-up, she says.
Stine Bredal Oftedal states that she is participating in the first part of the collection this week.
There will be strength training at Stine Bredal Oftedal in the days ahead.
Thorir Hergeirsson is missing the previously experienced Kari Brattset Dale and Sanna Solberg-Isaksen, who are both pregnant. Camilla Herrem is on the pitch after our achilles operation, but I don’t think she will play in the EC.
The national team manager nevertheless has a positive angle on the decay of Bredal Oftedal.
– It will be good training for the team, says Hergeirsson to VG and points out that others will have a bigger role and will be trained on “attack management” before the EC.
First of all, it is about Henny Reistad and Emilie Hegh Arntzen. Reistad has had a difficult start to the season with back problems and a broken finger, but dominated with eight goals when Esbjerg beat Storhamar 35–25 in the Champions League last weekend.
Stine Bredal Oftedal won the World Cup gold with Norway in December and is an obvious banker in the EC squad. It will be taken out on October 11. Thus, the Golden League becomes pretty much the battle for the exit.
Just before the EC, the Netherlands, Denmark and Brazil handball girls meet in Stavanger.
The EC opens against Croatia in Ljubljana on November 4. The championship is also organized in North Macedonia and Montenegro, but Norway will play all its matches in the Slovenian capital.
