more and more Ile-de-France residents are tempted by Lyon
According to an INSEE study on the departures of Ile-de-France residents to the provinces, Lyon is the preferred destination when they decide to change their lives.
Leaving Paris to settle in Lyon is the choice favored by Ile-de-France residents who leave the Paris region. Lyon is the first city in France that attracts them, all age groups combined, reveals a study by INSEEreleased last Thursday.
“The advantages of Paris in Lyon”
The quality of life is one of the major assets of the city of Lyon for former Ile-de-France residents like Pascale. This mother moved two months ago to the city center.
“There are the advantages of Paris but in Lyon. Whether it’s the beauty of the city, the gastronomy, the geographical location which is exceptional, very close to the Mediterranean and the mountains. In 15 minutes by car, you find yourself at the countryside and it’s very exotic”, says this commercial director at BFM Lyon.
Same observation for his 25-year-old son. Solely teleworking, Benoît was looking for a large apartment with an office but did not have the budget to live in the Paris region. “I bought an apartment, in Croix-Rousse, for 300,000 euros and I have 55 m2. In Paris, I did not even look, for this budget, it is 30 m2 maximum”, details this first-time buyer.
The proximity to Paris
Beyond this city life at a lower cost, Ile-de-France residents seek tranquility while remaining close to the capital.
“Many have kept their jobs in Île-de-France and in particular in Paris. They leave for cities which allow them to return if necessary”, develops François Dubujet, head of demographic and social studies at Insee Île-de. -France.
On average, every year, between 2,000 and 2,500 Ile-de-France residents come to settle in Lyon.
