In Moanda, the representation of Samu has several social services: general medicine, minor surgery, gynecology, radiology, geriatrics, prenatal consultation and odontology (dentist). Its staff is made up of three general practitioners, three specialist doctors, nine nurses, a radiologist, six paramedics, two security guards, two surface technicians, a pharmacist and people in charge of administration. That is 30 members, with 13 women for 17 men.
“We treat around 100 patients a day, for various pathologies. This number can rise to 150 when the specialists, who are not permanent, are within our walls twice a week. This number is even higher during our various caravans in Bakoumba, Monda, Mounana and the surrounding villages,” explained a general practitioner from the Samu social. “Recurrent pathologies are seasonal. Currently, we treat a lot of malaria and lung diseases, which include 50% of consultations,” he added.
Free consultations at home
The latter assured that everything is free. “But the medicine that we do not have, we put on the account of the Cnamgs so that the patient goes to buy it in the approved structures. But otherwise, everything is free: consultations, medication, care,” he explained. The Samu social in Moanda also offers free home consultations. “We receive a lot of patients for the radio only, a service that the hospital structures do not yet offer, but which we offer free of charge”, said the doctor.
