The event, which takes place simultaneously in 29 countries, is funded by the European Community under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions and has 4 main objectives:
- bringing research and researchers closer to the public
- promote research projects throughout Europe and outside Europe
- increase the interest of young people in scientific careers

The location of the Giardini Luzzati also hosts a stage to turn the spotlight on “Researchers (comedy) night”: Andrea Carlini and Paul D. Genovese, a duo of comedians known locally and nationally as well as members respectively of the Science Festival and Iit , bring to the stage the dualism between being men of science and incurable scoundrels with a show of stand up comedy and cabaret in which we talk about brain drain, artificial intelligence and robotics, but also about the fears and uncertainties of two millennials struggling with work, family, children and everything else (at 9 pm, without reservation).
Finally, a big news: Red Palace extraordinarily opens the second noble floor and the mezzanine with the secret rooms of the apartment of Anton Giulio II Brignole-Sale and proposes, thanks to the Cultural Activities and Marketing – Educational Services Department of the Civic Museums of Genoa, in addition to the guided tours, the performance of dance and acting “Oil on canvas”, which will see the participation of Elena Dragonetti, Serena Loprevite and Rocco Colonnetta, two dancers and an interpreter who accompany visitors in the magic of the private alcove of a late 17th century bon vivant. The Palace opens at 7pm; the show is scheduled for 19:30, 20:30 and 21:30 with a maximum of 20 people for each shift (reservations on site).
Sharper 2022 does not abandon the digital formats happily experimented in previous editions and also proposes the marathon online with 28 hours of scientific communication in connection from all over Italy.
The activities of the European Researchers’ Night do not end on 30 September: with the opening of the school year, ample space will be given to initiatives to inform and involve schools of all levels with Researchers @ School and a rich program of special projects carried out together at national level as Su Science (in Genoa in 5 schools and 5 different dates), Unlikely Research and Research show.
The organizers of the Sharper project have decided to dedicate this edition to Piero Angela to reiterate the need for dialogue and collaboration between the worlds of communication, research and school.
