In 2018 the elections in Prague 3 were won by the coalition of the ODS, People’s Party and Svobodný with 22.2 percent of the vote and ten mandates. The coalition TOP 09, STAN and Žižkov (not only) finished second with 21.1 percent of the vote and nine mandates, and the Pirates came third with a gain of 19.2 percent and eight seats.
The ANO movement also got into the council with a gain of 12.5 percent and five deputies, and the Greens and independents, who took three seats based on 8.1 percent of the vote. The coalition was formed by TOP 09 and STAN, the Pirates and the Greens AND the mayor he became Jiří Ptáček (TOP 09).
A new face at the helm
Ten I ran in this year’s municipal elections. However, he is no longer as a leader. He was number one on the joint candidate list Michael Vronsky (TOP 09) after, according to Ptáček, he voluntarily gave up his place. And thus a chance to become mayor. “I fulfilled the role of mayor with joy. But after consulting with my wife and three children, I have decided not to seek the position again,” said Ptáček in his own words facebook. In addition, the serving mayor was elected to the municipality.
In Prague 3 it is more than obvious that Žižkov will be led by a new mayor for the next 4 years or the new mayor. The question is, who will it be? The previous coalition worked in the distribution of TOP 09 with STAN, Pirates and Greens. If you would like to continue, they will not reach the majority with their 17 mandates in the 35-member council. So it is possible that they will attract someone to themselves.
It will be a new entity at the Žižkov council Prague 3 to each otheror Coalition for P3, or ODS and KDU-ČSL, which at the Prague-wide level merged with TOP 09? In this regard, it is specific in Prague 3 that the ODS, as the opposition, often criticized the previous management of the town hall.
The end of former mayors
He was one of the loudest critics Alexander Bella (ODS), which became mayor of Prague 3 for a short time in 2018. At that time, alongside the candidate of the ODS, People’s Party and Svobodny, with ambitions to continue to lead the city district, which he did not succeed in doing.
He ran again this year, but only from 7th place. Preferential votes did not bring her up, which means that with 6 representatives elected, Bella will leave the Prague 3 council after 8 years. The return to the council did not succeed either Tomas Mikesk (TENT). He was the mayor of Prague 3 in 1994 and 1998, and it was he who married President Václav Havel to Dagmar Havel in 1997.
