Women’s D2: Ruthless Greens
“A high level game“, this is what awaited the Vertes this Sunday, in the words of their own coach. Cautious before the kick-off of this meeting, Laurent Mortel can now be a satisfied coach because his players have done the job. OGC Nice nevertheless struggled for a half-time. If Laury Jesus was the first to stand out (Nice 0-1 ASSE, 15th)the Gym girls were equalized through Sarah Magnier (Nice 1-1 ASSE, 22nd). Yes, but now, serious and diligent, the Amazons have managed to regain the lead at the best of times. Just before the break, Laury Jesus offered himself, once again, a very nice goal, his lob allowing ASSE to put a blow on the heads of Nice (Nice 1-2 ASSE, 44th).
Returning from the break, it was a completely different match that presented itself to the Vertes. Faced with more clumsy Niçoises and guilty of defensive errors, Maryne Gignoux’s teammates showed no mercy. Enjoying a coffee, Peyton Depriest first widened the gap (Nice 1-3 ASSE, 58th)then Cindy Caputo (pictured) found her way to the nets (Nice 1-4 ASSE, 60th)just like Chloe Marty (Nice 1-5 ASSE, 77th). From the head, Anaëlle English (Nice 1-6 ASSE, 79th) then Abby Carchio (Nice 1-7 ASSE, 89th) finally came to complete a nice success in opposing lands. The Greens released Nîmes, the red lantern, next Sunday (3 p.m.).
On va savourer ce succès !
“We had an accomplished match, I am very satisfied with this collective performance. We had this ability to score at the right time at the end of the first period. Behind, on one makes the difference, in particular thanks to the bench. It is the victory of a whole group which lives well. Today, six different girls found their way to the nets. It’s very good to have several players with the ability to score and confidence. We will savor this success! It will have to be confirmed against Nîmes, a team that will not be easy to play.“
