twenty-eight new recruits for the army
The Luxembourg Army made the solemn promise of the 43e rookie session Friday afternoon. The ceremony took place on the Deich site in Ettelbruck.
In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, François Bausch, 28 volunteer soldiers, including five of Portuguese nationality, took the oath. This ceremony marks for the volunteers the completion of the four-month basic training which prepared the recruits for their future military activities within the Army.
Then took place the handover ceremony of the Commander of the Armed Forces between Colonel Yves Kalmes and his successor, Colonel Alain Schoeben. In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, François Bausch, Colonel Alain Schoeben took up his duties as Commander of the Armed Forces, replacing Colonel Yves Kalmes, who asserted his rights to the retirement.
During this ceremony, François Bausch thanked Colonel Kalmes for his commitment to the Luxembourg Army. He then welcomed Colonel Alain Schoeben, in whom he places all his trust for the pursuit of the major projects of the Luxembourg Army.
