Power outage in Prague: The wider center was paralyzed, trams and elevators did not run
Initial information indicated a fault in the substation. In the end, Hanzelka’s spokesperson specified the cause of the outage differently. “It was not a technical fault, but according to my information, contact of the high voltage line with a foreign body,” said Hanzelka. “I have information that a larger fairground balloon flew into the lead and an automatic shutdown has occurred” he added. Deliveries were thus restored after 20 minutes. Hanzelka specified that it was not an excursion balloon with passengers.
“As a result of a power outage in the area of Prague 2, Prague 4 and Prague 10 we record 12 cases of people being rescued from the elevator,” informed the spokesman of the Fire and Rescue Service, Mr. m Prague Martin Kavka. According to the Facebook of Prague 10, the assumption was that electricity would be restored at 8:30 p.m. The power supply was eventually restored shortly after seven o’clock in the evening.
