I go out of the house and the kolobkas are being thrown around. It’s the same when I go to the House of Representatives, sometimes it’s even a problem to get there at all, Jakub Michlek, chairman of the Pirt parliamentary club, pointed out at Monday’s conference of the Pirt party.
We need to ensure that Prague can set the rules for how the scooters will work here, for example, that they will park only in certain places, he added. The problem of improperly parked electric scooters has been a problem in Prague since 2018, when it was introduced in the city.
Bug memo, but…
In the past, there was a memorandum in Prague, which concluded with the operators of electric scooters, the mayor’s office. The current coalition subsequently dismissed him in 2019, according to Prague Mayor Zdek Hib, because the operator violated its conditions. Since then, according to the mayor, the city and the operators have not agreed on a new memorandum.
There was some kind of negotiation here, but the city is pulling a short piece of rope at the moment, and that’s why we need a legal authorization to have the authority to organize the way the city needs it, I’m Hib.
Some operators are inclined to agree with the city, but unfortunately there are those who are not willing to agree. If it were possible to agree through some memoranda, then the individual municipalities would agree on it separately, k.
The operator of sdlench bikes has come to an agreement with Prague
Neither Lime nor Bolt, i.e. the companies that operate electric scooters in Prague, disagree with such a statement. We have agreed on a memorandum of understanding with Prague for the sharing of e-bikes. All the conditions in this memorandum will be used from summer not only for bicycle parts, but also for bicycle parts. At the moment, we only know technically how to sign the memorandum, but the memorandum lasts a long time, explains Vclav Petr, manager of the Lime company.
It should be noted that there are several different signs for traffic tickets in Prague. First, there are so-called speed bumps, for example in cities where a large number of people move. In the application, you can also find places where parking is prohibited, and conversely, in several places, spaces where you can park alone.
In the spirit of the memorandum, let’s meet with the representatives of the city streets and together we will discuss how to find a parking lot on the given land. For example, when you go up to Praha 8, there is a mandatory parking wall. And this will happen. Let’s talk with Praha 6, for example, explains Petr.
The company Bolt is talking about the automatic delivery of memos for bikes and scooters. Its vehicles have not been able to be parked anywhere other than in designated places since the beginning of last year, when the company moved to the metropolis.
A good example among urban centers that do not count on this, and will have this problem tackled by a whole-Prague team and industry in cooperation with the operators of public transport, is Prague 3.
Last year, in April, the city hall defined on its land exactly where bicycles and scooters can be parked. She just launched the CYRIL system, through which passengers can find the nearest parking lot on the map, where they can leave their means of transport with impunity. Where parking signs are in place, we see that roughly 98 percent of all rides end in them, Lime manager Vclav Petr insists.
Pilothouse in Prague 7
Prague 7 is now moving in a similar direction. From Monday, we started a pilot project in 10 dolní Holeovice for the parking of all shared services only in specific towns and nowhere else. After evaluating it, we will transfer the duty to the whole of Prague 7, explains Prague 7 councilor for transport Ondej Mirovsk (Green Party). In addition to the Vltava, the affected land is bounded by Dlnická Street in the north and Argentinská Street in the west.
At the same time, as Prague 7, we entered into a pilot project with the French company Vianova, which is developing an integrated portal for visualization and the first of all forms of micromobility. Clem is the transition of the functional portal to standard operation in the city and to have the option of online control and a specific request for the removal of the parking lot, says Mirovsk.
According to him, it would be ideal if the system could be used to sanction driving on the sidewalk, which is not possible due to the GPS units in the city.
