UN man was sentenced a Rouen (Seine Maritime) after having harassed his ex-girlfriend. On September 5, 2022, Lucie* went to the police station to file a complaint against her. She explains that he keeps harassing her on the phone. She told investigators that the man did not have the right to contact her or appear near her home following a conviction a few months earlier for domestic violence.
However, after his conviction, Lucie indicates that his ex-companion has continued to spy on his actions: “He has me watched by his friends and his family. To illustrate her words, Lucie indicates that her ex-companion threatened to attack her car, which some time later will indeed be degraded. On September 13, the man went to the restaurant where she was having dinner with a friend and asked for her son: “I refused because he got me drunk”.
threatening messages
In order to prove his statements, the victim gives the investigators the text messages and voice messages from his ex-companion in which the police can only see “more than 2000 communications” between July and September 2022 among which are threatening messages: “I’m going to get you high, who do you sleep with, I’m going to do you dirty”.
A search warrant was issued by the public prosecutor and the man was arrested on September 21. When he knew he was being sought, he contacted the victim “48 times” “for explanations”.
Placed in police custody, the man explains that the victim is none other than his mistress with whom he had a child. He admits having “missioned a little one” to degrade his ex-companion’s vehicle, because the latter refuses to hand over his son to him: “She prevents me from seeing what I love, so I break her what she love. Asked about the harassment, the respondent this time invokes “the safety of his child”. “She goes to the restaurant the day before the start of the school year, I don’t trust, I watch her,” he says, before admitting “to be jealous”.
Unaware of his double life
In the box, the defendant adopts a provocative attitude. Hand in his pockets, he laughs at the evocation of the facts by the president, is nonchalant and trivializes his actions: “These were empty words. Asked about the violation of his probation, the man replies: “What do you want, that’s love. If she hadn’t brought me some stuff, we wouldn’t be here. »
His behavior in the box ended up irritating the court: “If I were you, sir, I would make myself very small instead of blaming the victim and laughing in the box. On reading the medical certificate, the defendant continued: “She says she has appetite problems but she goes to the restaurant every day. “And to outbid:” his tears, it’s cinema “.
Present at the hearing, Lucie* explains that she was not aware of the defendant’s double life. She supports his accusations. “He makes me follow, he knows everything I do, waits for me in front of my house, when I answer him it’s to be quiet because when I ignore him or block him it’s worse”, indicates- t-she before expressing the wish “that he leaves her alone”. She is not a civil party and is not seeking damages.
A “violent, harassing and dangerous” man
For the public prosecutor, the defendant is a “violent, harassing and dangerous” man unable to respect judicial prohibitions. He requires a sentence of 18 months in prison with a warrant of committal.
Counsel for the defendant, for his part, endeavors to attenuate the “unpleasant” side of the facts. Firstly, he indicates that the victim contacted his client more than “1,000 times” in three months and does not hesitate to imply that behind the victim’s complaint, in reality, there is hidden revenge following the discovery of his double life. “Their story is Dallas,” he concluded before seeking an alternative sentence to incarceration.
The court declared the defendant guilty of the charges and sentenced him to 10 months’ imprisonment, which he served under an electronic bracelet. **.

** This sentence is subject to appeal. Everyone is presumed innocent until all legal remedies have been exhausted.
