Coronavirus in Belgium: Minister Dermagne puts vaccination leave on the agenda of the Council of Ministers
The extension of vaccination leave to private sector personnel, as part of the autumn anti-Covid campaign, will be on the table of the Council of Ministers next week, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor Pierre-Pierre announced on Sunday. Yves Dermagne (PS), in response to a request from his partners in the Ecolo-Groen coalition.
MPs Cécile Cornet (Ecolo) and Kristof Calvo (Groen) called on the minister in the morning to reactivate this leave for everyone, which currently only benefits civil servants. Vaccination leave, or “low unemployment” of its official name, was activated in April 2021 for the previous campaigns in order to allow workers to be administered an anti-Covid serum during their working hours. For environmentalists, wait for the opinion on this subject of the National Labor Council (CNT) is a bad calculation because”now is the time to make that decision. After, it will be too late.“
Mr. Dermagne indicated, in a reaction to Belga, that an agreement had already been concluded within an inter-cabinet working group. It must now be brought to the Council of Ministers. In this regard, the subject is on the agenda of the next council, said the minister.
“Upon my appointment as Minister of Labour, I directly made possible the vaccination leave“Commented the socialist. It goes without saying that I will see to its extension, as long as we are not rid of the coronavirus. It is important that workers who want to be vaccinated, and therefore protect others like themselves, can take time off for this purpose.“
