Comedian João Pinto presents stand-up show in Lisbon and Porto

“Mother” is the title of the solo that the comedian will present in the next few days. NiT spoke to him.

Comedian João Pinto is preparing to present the stand-up comedy show “Mãe” in the coming days. He will perform at Lisboa Comedy Club on September 28, 29 and 30 — and October 1, 2014 in Porto, for a performance at Teatro Sá da Bandeira. Tickets are at sale for 15€.

“The idea came about because, over this year and a half or two years, from texts that talk about my marriage, my childhood and long childhood and had this thread in common — so I had this thread in common to close this cycle of stand-up with a solo and a show with this name and this theme in the background”, explains João Pinto to NiT.

“In my case, I have these three examples [de maternidade]. My grandmother Norte, my mother’s mother, raised in Régua, in that poverty and difficulty today. You had to send your children to Lisbon and here and there so they could be somebody. The example of my mother, who was sent to Lisbon at a very young age. He came to serve a 10-year-old lady’s house, those stories we’ve all heard. She had to make a living, she lost her husband in the war and then she had to fend for herself with two children and all the struggle she had to be able to be — and a self-employed entrepreneur, to be able to grow, have some things — and then the struggle of my wife, who is a mother now”, he adds.

“It’s a completely different thing, where moms are asked to be cool, cool, to be in school, to be on t-shirts, volcanoes and raise silkworm families, to plan parties, bake cookies and save money. The mother has to make TikToks and take pictures with her children, be everywhere at the same time and in addition to be a successful professional, with a very high job demand, and is sandwiched between the demands of a series of aspects of life. . There is a lot here in which the central figure turns out to be this: the mother.”

After this data, more can be marked, but it is possible that it is the end of one cycle — and the beginning of another. Either way, the soil will be recorded for eternity. “The idea is to always use the content. With word of mouth recording we can think that Netflix will be very interested in my special, or we can be a little more down to earth, cut it and put it on Instagram, let’s see [risos].”
