Turkey and Russia are developing an alternative to the Mir payment system
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed the Minister of Development to develop alternatives to the payable Russian Mir system together with Russia. This was reported by the Turkish TV channel A Haber.
The development of new options for servicing Russian national cards in the country has become mandatory in connection with the sanctions against the Russian Federation. On September 19, Turkish commercial banks DenizBank and Is Bankasi announced the suspension of work with cards of the Russian payment system. This decision was made in connection with concerns about possible restrictions by the US Treasury, which accept Mir.
An alternative to the cards of the Mir payment system in Turkey is likely to be national, as well as on the payment card system (NSPK) and Mir. About this in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru declared Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market:
Of course, the Turks are interested. They are acquiring a partner that has advanced technology, at the level of the most advanced European food products. Nothing reproduces on this planet in Turkey. I think this option is probably possible. And it is quite possible that he will suit our side,” Aksakov noted.
The deputy said that Russia is ready to share its technologies, but will defend its interests.
