The Antiques Biennial in Florence opened, 80 galleries and patrons – Tuscany
(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 24 SEPTEMBER – The 32nd edition of the International Antiques Biennial (Biaf) in Florence opened, first at Palazzo Vecchio and then with the ribbon cutting at Palazzo Corsino. The event, back in attendance after being postponed by a year due to the pandemic, is scheduled to run until 2 October: it will host about 80 galleries with a new staging by interior designer, set designer and director Matteo Corvino.
At the inauguration present, among others, the mayor Dario Nardella, the general secretary of Biaf Fabrizio Moretti, the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani and, guest of honor, Piero Chiambretti. “An edition of the rebirth”, as repeatedly illuminated by Moretti. Among the initiatives that will animate the days of the Biennale, a preview screening of ‘Eternal Memories’, the first docu-game in the world that intends to tell young generations a playful moment through ancient art. Biaf is also a tradition of patronage with the donation of the altarpiece by Durante Alberti, depicting the ‘Trinity and Saints Andrea, Maria Maddalena and Cristina’ by Fabrizio Moretti and Eleonora and Bruno Botticelli, to commemorate the memory of their respective parents, to the Cathedral of Sansepolcro (Arezzo).
Chiambretti said he was “very honored to be the ‘godmother’ of this beautiful event” and then joked: “I will be Chiara Ferragni from Biaf in response to her visit to the Uffizi a few months ago – he said -. I cut a ribbon. after having cut a lot of hair. I love art, I love this city and admiring so many masterpieces at once is truly a great emotion “. (HANDLE).
