Six days of great cinema with the Terra di Siena International Film Festival
SIENA – The city of Siena returns to being the capital of great cinema with the Terra di Siena International Film Festival, 26th edition: from 28 September to 2 October it will animate the city with a program of important films, competitions and prizes, the presence of stars and characters, and even events, masterclasses, music, debates, reflections.
The review, chaired by Maria Pia Corbelli, artistic director Antonio Flamini, partner of the Municipality of Siena, Mibact, a consolidated event in the Italian cultural panorama, raises the curtain after the consent on the occasion of the presentations at the Cannes Film Festival and at the International Film Festival from Venice.
“The Festival – anticipates the president and founder Corbelli – will see the presence of great exponents of international cinema with Career Awards, the prestigious Seguso Award and Tributes to three giants of the golden age of our cinema: Tognazzi, Gassman and Pasolini on the occasion of the centenary of their birth. The satisfaction is also that of celebrating an edition, the XXVI, which confirms the importance of our project, which has become a consolidated event on the international scene. An opportunity to promote the city and the territory projected into a wide-ranging and qualified scenario ».

«The consensus – continues the artistic director Flamini – is also supported by the choice over time of films of social value, evidence of the Festival’s attention to big questions and phenomena of great impact. The program includes, among other things, film screenings at the Nuovo Pendola cinema, round tables and conferences on the subject of audiovisual; ample space for the world of school. With previews of international feature films and short films, including master classes, music, conferences ».
The preview Tuesday 27 September with a preview dedicated to the territories of Tuscany and Siena and the projection-event, organized by the ‘Galilei’ high school, of the ‘Two families’ medium-length film, from a short story by Federigo Tozzi, directed by Pablo Revello. Then, the documentary made by the Municipality of Siena, directed by Francesco Bruschettini, ‘Siena, the creative genius of man’, with the presence of Alessandro Benvenuti and Gianna Nannini; the short film ‘The coldest room’ by Francesco Rossi, already winner of the Golden Globe. The day closes with the preview of the documentary ‘Le favolose’, presented at # Venezia79, by Roberta Torre, president of this edition of the Festival of the jury composed of the students of the University of Siena, faculty of communication, for the ‘Italian Cinema ‘; finally, the preview of the film ‘Ragazzaccio’ by Paolo Ruffini, with Massimo Ghini, Sabrina Impacciatore, Beppe Fiorello.
Wednesday 28 September, on the calendar the documentary ‘I mille cancelli di Filippo’, by Adamo Antonacci, dedicated to autism, in tune with the social sensitivity that has always characterized the Festival. Great attention also to the female question. It continues with the screening of the first work ‘Altri Padri’, by Mario Sesti, the vision of the documentary ‘The mad desire to live’ by Ricky Tognazzi, dedicated to his father Ugo. The famous actor and director will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award accompanied by his wife Simona Izzo. On the calendar, screenings of the short films ‘Return to Eden’ by Riccardo Casamonti, ‘2020’, the preview of the film ‘Tutti abordo’, by Luca Miniero, produced by Medusa Film with Stefano Fresi, Carlo Buccirosso, Giulia Michelini. The curtain falls on the international film ‘State of Conscience’, produced by Iervolino Entertainment
Thursday 29 September, the day begins with the presentation of Paolo Ruffini’s documentary ‘Lostly’, dedicated to the theme of Alzheimer’s. After ‘Week end for two (con delitto)’ debut film by Brando Improta, present in the hall with the leading actress of the film Beatrice Buticchi. The programming continues with a preview of the film ‘The night is a safe place’, the second work by Giuseppe Papasso, with Amin Nour and Alessandro Haber, present in the hall with the director. At 8.30 pm, screening of Lorenzo D’Amico De Carvalho’s debut film Gli Anni Belli, with Maria Grazia Cucinotta; after Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo’s film ‘Quel Posto nel Tempo’, starring Leo Gullotta.
Friday 30 September, Terra di Siena Film Festival begins, partnered with the Mujeres association, with the screening of the film ‘Female singular’, with Catherine Deneuve, Monica Guerritore, Violante Placido. It continues with Massimo Paolucci’s ‘Soldier under the moon’, with Abel Ferrara co-star. And again, Massimo Cappelli’s film ‘E buonanotte’. At 8.30 pm, screening of ‘Padre Pio’, presented at # Venezia79 at the Venice Days; will be presented by director Abel Ferrara. Finally, the documentary ‘All the world outside’, dedicated to the prison world, by Ignazio Oliva present in the room.
Saturday 1 October, in the morning, Abel Ferrara’s masterclass in the ‘Virginia Woolf’ lecture hall of the University for Foreigners, open to the public; in the afternoon of the screening of the 17 short films, the conference of Cna ‘Cinema e Audiovisivo’.
Grand Gala award ceremony in the evening at the Teatro dei Rozzi with the participation of exponents of national and international entertainment. International Film Festival of Terra di Siena the curtain falls with the screening of the out-of-competition film ‘Les Enfant deux Autres’, with Virginie Efira, Roschdy Zem and Chiara Mastroianni.
